Monsanto shares have risen from a low of $13.20 in July 2002 to $21.64 July 2003,
only just over half their peak in July 2001, of $38.90.Early in 2002 Monsanto were found liable for the worst PCB contamination the world has known. This may cost them $3 billion as it's unlikely the first liable company, Solutia, can pay anywhere near the cost, having estimated assets of only hundreds of millions of dollars.
